The life in the shelter is peaceful right up until that awful SIGNAL screams. The horde is at the gates, which means your nap is over. Get in your death machine and smash the horde of zombies!

As a wise man once said: this game takes about 5-8 minutes to complete and has a definitive ending. So yeah, stick with it till the end!
